How does it feel to reach the shortlist for the Samuel Johnson Prize?
I felt honored, obviously, and also surprised, since this is my first book and my magazine work for the New Yorker isn’t much known in the U.K.

Submissions for the 2013 prize are now open

Submissions for all books need to be made by 28 June 2013. Books published from 1 November to 31 December 2013 have a further month until 27 July 2013 to submit copies of their books.
